چکیده
Abstract BCC-ESM1 is the first version of Beijing Climate Center’s Earth System Model, and participating in phase 6 Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP6). The Aerosol Chemistry (AerChemMIP) only CMIP6-endorsed MIP which involved. All AerChemMIP experiments priority 1 seven priorities 2 3 have been conducted. DECK (Diagnostic, Evaluation Characterization Klima) CMIP historical simulations also run as entry card CMIP6. outputs from widely used recent atmospheric chemistry studies. To facilitate use datasets, this study describes experiment settings summarizes model detail. Preliminary evaluations are presented, revealing that: climate sensitivities well within likely ranges suggested by IPCC AR5; spatial structures annual mean surface air temperature precipitation can be reasonably captured, despite some common biases CMIP5 CMIP6 models; a spurious cooling bias 1960s to 1990s evident BCC-ESM1, most other ESMs; states sulfate concentrations reproduced, their temporal evolution at regional scales. The Scenario Model Intercomparison Project (ScenarioMIP) for CMIP6
Projections of future climate change play a fundamental role in improving understanding of the climate system as well as characterizing societal risks and response options. The Scenario Model Intercomparison Project (ScenarioMIP) is the primary activity within Phase 6 of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP6) that will provide multi-model climate projections based on alternative scen...
متن کاملIce Sheet Model Intercomparison Project (ISMIP6) contribution to CMIP6
Reducing the uncertainty in the past, present, and future contribution of ice sheets to sea-level change requires a coordinated effort between the climate and glaciology communities. The Ice Sheet Model Intercomparison Project for CMIP6 (ISMIP6) is the primary activity within the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project – phase 6 (CMIP6) focusing on the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets. In this ...
متن کاملAerChemMIP: quantifying the effects of chemistry and aerosols in CMIP6
The Aerosol Chemistry Model Intercomparison Project (AerChemMIP) is endorsed by the Coupled-Model Intercomparison Project 6 (CMIP6) and is designed to quantify the climate and air quality impacts of aerosols and chemically reactive gases. These are specifically near-term climate forcers (NTCFs: methane, tropospheric ozone and aerosols, and their precursors), nitrous oxide and ozonedepleting hal...
متن کاملThe Dynamics and Variability Model Intercomparison Project (DynVarMIP) for CMIP6: assessing the stratosphere–troposphere system
Diagnostics of atmospheric momentum and energy transport are needed to investigate the origin of circulation biases in climate models and to understand the atmospheric response to natural and anthropogenic forcing. Model biases in atmospheric dynamics are one of the factors that increase uncertainty in projections of regional climate, precipitation and extreme events. Here we define requirement...
متن کاملThe Detection and Attribution Model Intercomparison Project (DAMIP v1.0) contribution to CMIP6
Detection and attribution (D&A) simulations were important components of CMIP5 and underpinned the climate change detection and attribution assessments of the Fifth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The primary goals of the Detection and Attribution Model Intercomparison Project (DAMIP) are to facilitate improved estimation of the contributions of anthropogenic...
